“627 MELAKA – Safeguard the Portuguese National Heritage!”

Let’s stand in solidarity with the Portuguese community to protect and sustain the well-being, the environment and the heritage culture of the Portuguese Settlement at Ujong Pasir Melaka, as indiscriminate development creeps in to wreak irreversible destruction.

Date : 27 June 2015 (Saturday)

Program :
4:30pm – Cycling from Bukit Serindit to the Portuguese Settlement, Ujong Pasir*

6pm – Gather at the Portuguese Settlement. Activities include :
– Camping**
– BBQ
– Candlelight vigil at midnight

It would also be a wonderful opportunity to learn about and appreciate the Portuguese culture as 627 coincides with the Festa De San Pedro. The Festa is a traditional Portuguese festival held to honour St. Peter the patron saint of fishermen in the Portuguese Settlement.

* Wong Tack will be joining the cycling team
** The organizer has prepared a camp site for participants. However participants are encouraged to bring camps/ sleeping bags if they have their own.
