It is unbelievable that in this day and age, there still exists villages without access to electricity, especially when it’s situated a mere two hours journey from the Klang Valley.

In December last year, we went up to Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Kepong, one of the 15 Orang Asli settlements in my constituency Bentong. It’s a small village of 150 people, which is perched on a hilltop and surrounded by gushing rivers and beautiful scenery.

Solar lights were installed.

As I was thanking the sponsors, I told them that they have not only lit up the village but more importantly, their contributions have helped to brighten up the future of the children in this village. #Bentong

在当今这个时代，令人难以置信的是仍然还有没有电源的村庄，尤其是距离巴生谷仅两个小时路程的村庄。

去年12月，我们去了Sungai Kepong原住民村庄，在我选区内的十五个原住民村庄之一。这是一个拥有150人的小村庄，坐落在山顶上，周围环绕着河流和美丽的风景。

Two days ago, I visited the people in Sungai Gapoi.

Life under the ‘new normal’ is stressful for many of them, particularly for the older generation.

Many have not seen their children for quite some time, who are afraid to come home due to the risks of possibly exposing their elderly parents to covid. Another reason is financial constraints. Some have lost their jobs. Travelling home costs money.

Even with very limited resources, I’m trying my best to help those in need and making sure no one is left behind. I also try to spend as much time as I could to talk and listen to them, particularly the elderly or those living alone. Although I’m sure they are appreciative of the food assistance that we brought, I know they valued the time we spent with them more.

So, keep a lookout for your neighbors, friends, relatives. Spend some time with them if you could.

两天前，我拜访了双溪甲杯的村民。

“新常态”下的生活对他们来说是一种压力，特别是对于老一辈。

许多人已经有一段时间没有见过自己的孩子了。他们的孩子不想让年迈的父母有机会接触病毒。另一个原因是财务约束。有些人失业了，而回家需要用到钱。

即使资源非常有限，我也会尽力为有需要的人提供帮助，并确保没有任何人落在后头。我还尝试用更多的时间来倾听和交流，尤其是老人或独居者。尽管我肯定他们很感谢我们带来的食品援助，但我知道他们很珍惜我们与他们相处的时间。

因此，请多关怀您的邻居，朋友，亲戚。如果可以的话，花点时间陪伴他们。
