“Started at 6am again this morning. Met up with a group of comrades and as a result of that meeting, a Himpunan Hijau Bury Lynas with 1 mil signatures steering committee Lahad Datu was formed. It will be led by Vincent Ng, a young green comrade who has been with me during the anti-coal power plant campaign.

When the community of Lahad Datu were faced with the risks of a coal fired power plant, people from across the nation and from the international community came forward to help them. They are very grateful for this and now they want to do the same for the community of Kuantan, whose feelings of anxiety they truly understand. They have committed to collect at least 10,000 signatures for this campaign. Lahad Datu is the place where the record breaking project of planting 10,000 trees in one minute were achieved in 1998, a town with a population 100,000 odd. The 1mil signature campaign will be carried out based on the same belief and spirit.

Right now I’m continuing my journey on a treacherous road to Sandakan.” – Wong Tack
