Himpunan Hijau brought the voices of 1 million Malaysians to Australia, calling for the SHUT DOWN of Lynas! A delegation of six HH members set-up a protest camp for 4D3N right at the doorstep of the Lynas HQ, 56 Pitt Street, Sydney. An intense demonstration was carried out during the Lynas AGM at Establishment Hotel on 29th Nov 2013.

Global climate change and rise of sea levels are real phenomenons. It is a reality that all of us must face particularly for coastal communities. With the continued expansion of unchecked developments and destruction of natural environment with massive deforestation of the upland, we will see the worsening of this man-made natural disasters.
I have repeatedly pointed out that the location of the Lynas plant at a swampy low lying coastal area will pose serious risks to the community concerned. Kuantan was hit by a massive flood last year. This year, right at this moment, it’s even worse. We will never know what will happen tomorrow and the day after.
The risks are real. Nature has sent us the clearest warning. Lynas may be good in lying but this round, the truth can never be covered up.

As a Home Minister, Zahid Hamidi should have displayed more wisdom and responsibility. Bullying and avoidance are not the ways to resolve issues.

What kind of deal has the BN government done with Lynas to the extent that our Home Minister expressed so much fear at the mere mentioned of Lynas?
And what does Zahid mean when he said that the issue of Lynas is already OVER and that it is ‘IRRELEVANT’?
How could it be irrelevant when the people of Kuantan, due to the worst ever floods in the history of this town, are faced with the danger of massive radioactive pollution disaster from the toxic radioactive wastes piled up in the Lynas plant in Gebeng?
And how could it be ‘OVER’ when just recently, 1.2 million people have put their signatures behind the campaign calling for the immediate shut down of the Lynas plant? Not to mention, only a week ago, serious demonstrations against Lynas were carried out by citizens from both Australia and Malaysia at the Lynas HQ and AGM in Sydney. Senator Lee Rhiannon and NSW MP Jamie Parker from the Greens Party Australia have also came forward and expressed their serious concern on this issue. After listening to both of them and looking at how Zahid had snapped at the reporters, I can only say “Oh my GOD!”.
Zahid must understand that ‘OVER’ means Lynas is Out of Malaysia. It’ll be ‘OVER’ once Lynas is SHUT DOWN!

I was glued to the TV since 7am this morning, watching the news coverage on the passing of Nelson Mandela.
Even though he is a world away and a man whom I’ve never met, but yet his passing can cause me to feel such a great sense of loss. This is a man who is my inspiration, my mentor and my hero. I have looked up to him so much, yet I have achieved so little compared to him. I feel so tiny.
Nelson Mandela, just like any of us, is just an ordinary citizen. His goal is very simple, install the basic human rights into the hands of every citizen regardless of colour. He is prepared to do whatever it takes, through whatever means and strategy to achieve that ideal. He is prepared to sacrifice everything for the love of his country.
Nelson Mandela has inspired millions during his lifetime. His passing will only bring his influence to greater heights. His spirit will continue to live in the hearts of millions of people across the world.

当黄德在Lynas 股东大会开会地点前进行抗议之际,女儿秋霖远从加拿大捎来了这封信。此时此刻,她的任何只字片语都会给父亲精神上莫大鼓励,並且成为他最强而有力的后盾!
It has already been two months since our celebration of victory, achieving our one million signature goal. But that wasn’t the end, the battle continues. Right now, half way round the world, my father and his team are camping out once again, but this time in Sydney, Australia. It’s wonderful to see people across all nations work together as global citizens to save Mother Earth. I’m so proud of what you have accomplished and how far you’ve come pa. Taking it to a whole new level and charging forward fearlessly, step by step. You’ve showed us compassion and I’m moved and inspired. Even though we are miles apart, the green spirit in me will always cheer on for you. I wish you and your team the best. Stay warm papa.
Love, Chiu lin
