Memang memeritkan hati melihat Sungai Pahang, sebuah ikon geografi di Semenanjung Malaysia, boleh mengalami kemusnahan ekologi sebegini – cetek, aliran air yang rendah, suhu air yang tinggi, pertumbuhan alga, dilumuri mendakan lumpur dan tiada kelihatan anak-anak ikan.
Bencana Air Negara bakal berlaku sekiranya kemusnahan yang berleluasa dan tidak bertanggungjawab di Ulu Tembeling tidak dihentikan segera.
It is painful to see an iconic geographical feature of Peninsular Malaysia, the Pahang River could come to this state of ecological collapse – shallow water level, low water flow, high water temperature, algae growth, mud laden river bed and no signs of fish fry.
Unless the irresponsible destructions stop in Ulu Tembeling, a national water disaster is imminent.
Wong Tack bersama-sama beberapa ahli Himpunan Hijau telah menyertai EKSPEDISI ILMU DAN SAINTIFIK/MISI SELAMATKAN HUTAN TADAHAN AIR NEGARA di Ulu Tembeling, Jerantut, Pahang dari 13-15 Mei 2016.
Misi ini disertai lebih 50 buah kereta 4×4 menghimpunkan 150 orang pemimpin-pemimpin NGO alam sekitar, editor-editor kanan media arus perdana, pakar-pakar alam sekitar, ahli akademik dan aktivis pecinta alam sekitar.
Mereka telah meninjau kawasan pembalakan yang tidak terkawal yang telah mengakibatkan kemusnahan khazanah alam dan pecemaran di sepanjang Sungai Pahang. Satu deklarasi yang dikenali sebagai ‘Deklarasi Ulu Tembeling’ telah dikeluarkan di akhir misi ini.

The BATTLE BEGINS!
Our case has dragged for so long. It has brought so much anxieties to a few and their families.
Our lawyers, Mr Gobind Singh and his associates, Mohd Haijan and Joanne have travelled to and fro from KL to Kuantan for the past two years. They are extremely busy professionals, with many from across the country depending on them. Yet they came forward to help us and have committed to stand with us until the end. Such comradeship is truly respectworthy.
