KOTA KINABALU: The recent discovery of widespread coral bleaching off Sepanggar Bay should serve as a reminder that the marine ecosystem demands attention, said Universiti Malaysia Sabah Director of Borneo Marine Research Institute Prof Dr Saleem Mustafa.
– Among the problems the work has encountered is the unforeseen impact it
would have on the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park that surrounds a
cluster of islands comprising Pulau Gaya, Pulau Sapi, Pulau Manukan,
Pulau Mamutik and Pulau Sulug, all only a 20 minutes boat ride from
here.
