“BACK TO SCHOOL” is just days away.
I remember my grandma used to soak the worn out uniforms of mine and my eight siblings in “Nila” (blue stains). After that she’ll starched them to make them somehow magically look “whiter” and “newer”. Our torn canvas shoes were sewn and re-sewn year after year, thrown away only after they were totally koyak.
So, coming from a poor background myself, I truly understand the pressure and anxieties that poor families, especially those in the rural areas and with many children, face at this time of the year.
Thus, this coming Friday, 30th Dec 2016, I will be bringing a group of Indian school children from less privileged families in an estate, to a pasaraya in Karak, to buy uniforms and basic school supplies.
I hope this small gesture will not only help to ease the burden and worries of their families, but will bring smiles to their faces. For those of you who wish to be a part of and contribute to this initiative, you may contact Jimmy at 010-2788820.
